Waking up with the sun in my house growing up meant only one thing…Yard Sale Day. My Mom and Dad would host yard sales multiple times a year. It was a great way to clean out the house and make some cash before driving all the unwanted items to the thrift store.
I’ve been totally obsessed with cleaning out all of the corners and closets of my home this year and as you can imagine after all that, I had boxes of items that needed to get out of the house. So, just like when I was growing up (in some ways we totally become our parents, scary right?), before everything got donated I had to try hosting a yard sale to see if we could make some extra fun money.
I know decluttering can be a pain and something you always want to do but never seems to make it high enough on the to-do list to actually get it done. I’m here to tell you, when you live in a home with minimal items, less clutter and only the things that you really love around, it brings such peace into your home. It’s totally worth the work…I promise!
If I was in town and not working on a weekend I would schedule a 4 hour chunk of time to declutter a certain part of the home, once that time was up I’d stop. Sometimes I’d clean out just one kitchen cabinet if I had no plans that night and felt up to it. It doesn’t have to be an all day affair. Actually I think that’d be WAY too much to try to do in a day, you’d lose steam and be exhausted by the end. It’s totally possible to declutter your home if you make it a priority. It feels so good once you’re done, it’s totally worth it! When your done with those 4 hours you can head outside, relax and have some fun knowing that you got a lot done. I don’t know about you but it’s always easier for me to relax once I’ve got a few things off my to- do list.
I hope you enjoy my yard sale video below!
