Green Beauty Event and Tips

green beauty meets glam

You all know a big part of green living for me is lessening my exposure to unnecessary ingredients and toxins whenever possible and sharing with you what I find. This is why I’ve been enjoying getting into green beauty. The more I research, the more I’m shocked by the lack of regulations, the number of harmful ingredients in everyday products, the amount of animal testing and how confusing the marketing around “all natural” products is.

Last week I was invited to Shop Conscious Beauty’s Green Meets Glam event. It was so much fun to be around tons of other women who are also passionate about green beauty. It was great, every woman I talked with, we instantly had something in common. I also got geek out about green living all night long…it’s one of my favorite things to do.

I met so many great women that night but my highlight was getting to meet the owner and creator of Au Naturale Cosmetics, Ashley Prange. She is such a kind and inspiring woman. She’s created a truly healthy makeup brand that you should check out. It’s Organic, gluten free, vegan, non-toxic and cruelty free. She helped me get color matched for their concealer and foundation while I was there. I’m really looking forward to upgrading from my Bare Minerals to this wonderful, true to the phrase, all natural brand. Not only has she made a beautiful green beauty line she’s also advocating to get legislation passed that would regulate the personal care industry, #WCW for real!

Below are some photos from the event. I’m looking forward to making videos and more posts about green home and personal care products that I’ve been trying. This way we can make the transition to living green together. Let me know if you have any favorites and subscribe to my YouTube if you haven’t already. :)

Green Beauty Event

The event was held in a cool local spot in Mission Hills, San Diego called The Barn by Soul Care House. You would never know it was there since it’s right in a neighborhood. I loved the vibe of the space.

Treat Collection Nail Polish

At the event they were doing free mini manicures with Treat Collection nail polish and mini facial’s using One Love Organics products. The event got even better because I was sipping organic Champagne. I picked up items from each of these companies and will let you know what I think once I’ve used them for a bit either here or on Instagram.

  1. Love this post! Sometimes I forget to look into what I’m putting on my skin since I’m not digesting it. I think “Oh, it’s not going in my body, so it doesn’t matter.” But that’s SO wrong! I recently found a hair salon up here that uses the same guidelines for hair care products as Europe, which is much stricter than the US. I was shocked at how many products are allowed for sale/use here, but not there due to their carcinogenic ties.

You’ll have to let me know how you like Au Natural’s makeup – I’m a die hard Bare Minerals user (:

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Maggie you are so kind, I’m so happy to read you liked this post. :) That hair salon sounds great! Baby steps is the best way into all of this so you don’t get overwhelmed. Over half of the chemicals in products that we put on our skin get absorbed into our body and bloodstream within seconds; that’s why it’s so important to start to look into what we’re using, I’m so happy you are!
I will totally let you know what I think about the Au Natural’s foundation. I’m looking forward to giving it a try because I’ve been using Bare Minerals for years too. It definitely isn’t the worst option out there but there’s better and since I was running out, I thought might as well try something “cleaner”. Plus I love supporting small businesses.
