Top of the morning to ya! This is how my Dad would always wake my sister and I up on St. Patrick’s Day. Since it’s the day we all wear green and green is my favorite color (obviously ;) ). I thought I would share with you a delicious green “milk” shake recipe. Lets get your day started on a healthy note before you enjoy some celebrating and partying later today!
I LOVE starting my day off with a green smoothie. This is one of my go to recipes after a yoga or Pilates class because it’s full of protein and potassium (to help soothe sore muscles).
St. Patrick’s Day Green “Milk” Shake Ingredients
- 1 Banana (frozen is best). It is the key to making your green smoothie into a dessert like “milk” shake.
- 2 cups of almond milk
- 2 Tablespoons of almond butter
- 1 Tablespoon of chia seed
- 2 big handfuls of organic spinach or your choice of greens
- A few ice cubes
Add all ingredients into a high speed blender in the order listed above and blend for about one minute. Pour and enjoy all the green creamy goodness. I hope this helps you feel in the spirit of wearing and being green!
*If you don’t have a high speed blender I recommend cutting the banana into thin slices before you freeze it. You will also need to blend it longer then one minute.
