Solstice has come and gone but we’re still a long way from daylight savings. I hope your year is off to a great start. With everyone making New Years resolutions I thought I’d share with you a tool that has really been supporting me, I know you will love it too. A friend of mine told me about it and I’m so glad she did! It’s hard to stay motivated and active during the winter. It’s dark, cold and by time most of us get off work our internal clocks are telling us it’s time to wind down. This is not a push through it and go out there and run anyway post…sorry. I am a big believer that moving our bodies, be it a run, bike ride, walk or yoga is super important, but thats another article. I want to share with you the awesome benefits that come from tuning in and syncing up your energy with the seasons. Relaxing and sleeping more is more natural in the winter then trying to reach all your dreams right now on 6 hours of sleep. I’ve found we all feel like it’s time to wind down but we end up sitting in front of the TV or computer all night. Then are shocked to see it’s 11pm and rush to get ready for bed. Sadly this leads to not enough sleep, followed by starting the next day tired. After work we just want to head home and go to bed…sound familiar? Ya I know it happens to me too and it happened to me A LOT before I downloaded the Twilight app.

The app Twilight dims your screen as the day turns to night syncing your phone to the sun’s cycle (how cool is that?). The app also changes your screen from blue tones to red tones. I’m sure you’ve heard that to get good deep restful sleep we should not be on our screens (TV, computers, smartphones, tablets) an hour before bed; I don’t know about you but I find that really challenging to do. That’s why I love this app so much and want you to go download it right now! Changing your screen color tones from blue to red allows your mind to continue to relax and wind down as the day turns to night. Blue tones stimulate our minds and keep us awake, even if our body is tired. Looking at your screen through a red toned filter helps you fall asleep faster when you go to bed.
