You all know I love being out on the trail. My love of nature is what keeps me motivated to live more sustainably. I know green living can feel overwhelming at times; having to think about what food to buy, what shampoo to get to replace your conventional one, how to cut down on the amount of plastic you throwaway and recycle and how to reduce your energy use. It’s A LOT. I get it. That’s is why I love and need to spend time hiking, camping and in my small backyard garden. It keeps me connected to why I choose to live green…my love of nature!
This year has started out with a lot of travel, camping and hiking trips and doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. I love it, all this time exploring and being outdoors has me even more motivated to live more sustainably. I thought it’d be fun to share with you some vlogs of where I’ve been and how I get out and get inspired to live more green.
This one is from a hike I did with an awesome friend right here in San Diego, at a great local park (Mission Trails Regional Park). I show you what I packed in my backpack that day and what we saw on our hike to the top of South Fortuna mountain.
I hope this inspires you to get out and realize you don’t need to go to some far off place or have to have some fancy gear. Throw on some mineral sunscreen, grab a backpack, some water and snacks and you’re ready to hit the trail.
What do you do that keeps you motivated to keep living green? Is it little ones in your life, wanting a safe healthy environment in your local community, a love of nature? I’d love to know in the comments below.
